ABC Seeks to Keep Stations from Deserting 'Ryan'

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - ABC television, backed by Republican Sen. John McCain and other leading conservatives, sought on Thursday to keep nervous affiliate stations from deserting a Veterans Day broadcast of the acclaimed World War II film "Saving Private Ryan."

McCain, a former Vietnam prisoner of war who is introducing the broadcast on ABC, issued a statement saying the film "comes nowhere near indecent."

"'Saving Private Ryan' is a powerful and important depiction of the sacrifices made for our country," McCain said." While it contains violence and profanity, these are not shown in a gratuitous manner."

The movie has more depth than merely an antiwar movie or a movie based upon patriotism and bravery in action for one’s country..

why is it so difficult to talk about real issues?

it seems many can not communicate beyond their own ideologies which, to them, defines their existence

anything that is either not understood or against a preconceived belief is simply given a label and dismissed

if the topic persists

it just gets ugly

accomplishes absolutely nothing worth while

just keeping with their particular herd's mentality

some, while nursing fragile egoes


just trying to gain insight..
