Help!......I've read all the 14th amendment posts and come away confused. The question of legitimacy aside (it either is or isn't) I get the sense that it usurps states rights, although I don't see the mechanism or wording that allows the fed gov to declare a national speed limit, although I know that is the case.
Then there's the big C and little c. Again I see that's true, but what does it mean?
A "Justice Court"? Is there such a thing? My understanding is Congress makes the laws and the courts decide whether or not they've been broken. I don't know any court that will listen to whether a law is wise.
At the time, I can see where States who were shortchanged representation, wouldn't like it, but these days every state has 2 Senators. The bulk of the first article concerned itself with that issue.
Not arguing...just don't know how we go from what the amendment says to the 10 points listed in the post I'm responding to. I'm sure I may have missed something....legalese is like a koan to me. Can you help simplify this for me? TY
