Veritas,

It is called exogetics. Themes.

Doctrines are THEMES that RUN all the way through the scriptures.

Sometimes specific words are not used but plenty of places we see the same scenarios and occurences.

For example, take the word "RAPTURE".

Where do you find it? Does it mean that it doesn;t exist or that the saints will not be resurrected?

We look for patterns and consistencies. This is what we teach the students. YOu may not always find every single word or an exact verse to support things, but one surely will find niumerous illustrations describing the very same thing, and that is what I am talking about.

Those verses regarding several of the OT saints demonstrate that they indeed were indwelled by the Spirit.

Sacrificing animals never saved anyone.

A great study is Hewbrews. It describes perfectly what I just said and focus in chapters 9 and 10 and then go back and start at the beginning.

As to commentators or great godly men of the Past, I am so thankful for the FIVE companies of godly men who translated the textus receptus into what we call the 1611 authorized KJV Bible.

They were just men also. Godly men. Holy Men. Spirit led men.
Like Spugeon, and John Gill and AT Robertson and Dwight Moody and Andrew Murray and RG LEE and shall we talk about Justinian and Flavius, and other early church fathers?

Could we not learn from them?????? How about H.A. Ironsides, John MacArthur, J Vernon McGee and John Phillips and A.W. Tozer and Arthur W. Pink? John Bunyon of Pilgrim's Progress?

These were great Biblical Scholars. Dallas Billington and Tom Malone and dare we say Jack Hyles and Lee Roberson?

Dear brother, anything I can learn from these great men of God, learned and scholarly men, humble and servants of God, I would take all I can get. Sure I would make sure I followed along with their statements in the scriptures and look it up, but men like this normally document their positons very clearly so it is not difficult.

How did they become so versed in God's Word? THEY READ others works on topics and research them. I would not be so quick to point out what you perceive to be a weakness in brother Spurgeon. Many many theplogians cannot latch his shoes and we are ndebted for his recording of what the Lord directed his mind, which he submitted to God in every way, for study to show himself approved, and to serving the people, and preaching the word.

Nay, be not so hasty to discard great men used of God, which is why they were great.

Doctrinal theology does not mean exactly what you stated. Themes running through consistently.

By silent, we do not mean lacking examples and illuistrations of the same thing a particular word means. It means lacking one word to describe the very same thing being illustrated very clearly in more than one place.
That is what is meant by "silence".

I do hope these thoughts lend to some understanding of what I have meant.

Again, I am not willing to argue and fight.

I have no time for that.

IF you decide to believe what you want, that is fine.

I have decided a long time ago that what I shared with you regarding the ways and means of salvation in the O.T. was Biblically correct and doctrinally correct and held by many scholars and godly men. I find that for me, I believe they are right on target according to the scriptures.

For His glory,
