I read an article that said higher interest rates will be good because it will fuel higher earnings....but I couldn't then understand why people would be selling.

Eventually the resulting numbers will have to determine whether it is good or not for the market. The market is obviously going to be mixed for a while. War, the election, interest rates, etc. So many unsure things happening...anything could happen.
