I have to agree with this sentiment. Chips aren't
solar panels - shape and layout matter as much as
area. Until one has a microphotograph or plot of
all these Opteron variants you can't really make
any conclusions about how various parts shrink.
One model may shrink less than another by going
to 90 nm or reducing L2 capacity simply because
overall die shape has to be kept rectangular and
small unusable regions form.
