dogcat,
I was using total guesses. I had to come up with something quantitative.
To clarify, my guestimate is ONLY for the server-based approach (physically uploading each and every song to Qtrax servers). The P2P model would have already HAD all those songs available, since it uses the entire Gnutella networks computers and song libraries. The only uploading would be the fingerprint files, which are tiny compared to the full audio files. A much, much, much faster process.
I personally do not believe that the server-based approach will be here to stay. I think the lawyers were in there dicking with these decisions. They did not want to jeopardize their existing law suits.
The point I was trying to make is this: don't expect the full UMG library to be available when the downloads start.
On the market action today, I do not believe that this was simply someone dumping their shares to get out VOLUNTARILY. With the huge plummet in the market today (for a variety of reasons), anyone holding shares on margin would have gotten large margin calls. I think people were selling whatever they could to meet those calls. This includes people who have "play money" invested in penny stocks.
As coolmil stated, the dollars here are miniscule. DON'T let todays drop scare you. If anything, I look at it as another buying opportunity! IMO.
Good things coming. But of course, you don't have to believe this if you don't want to. We'll all see what next week brings.
KTF!
