sage, if these precautions taken since katrina help save a few platforms which would otherwise be lost, that's going to have minimal impact on revenues. as you said, and i certainly agree, mako will still be pulling in work in the aftermath of storms by renting out survey equipment: ROVs, environmental testing equipment, etc.
as much as DPDW may have been a hurricane stock in 2007, with the addition of mako technologies a few months ago they are now imo really set up to help the industry when mother nature goes wild -- and not just in the GOM. their reach is increasingly global, and a cyclone on the other side of the planet also becomes an emergency response situation. jmho.
