MEMC Achieves 300mm Milestone; Provides Update on Expansion Plans to Meet Growing Customer Demand

""We are very pleased to state that we crossed the 50,000 wafers per month capacity milestone in the first quarter of 2004. In addition, based on current demand indications, we anticipate selling approximately 50,000 300mm wafers per month in the second quarter of this year," commented Nabeel Gareeb, MEMC's Chief Executive Officer. "We are also on track with our internal 300mm plans, established over a year ago, to cross the 75,000 wafers per month capacity milestone in the second quarter of 2004 and the 100,000 wafers per month mark in the third quarter of this year."
