Pharmboy, re: your, “they may give us some [Ph2/Georgia] info on whether metastasis continues to spread in these patients, or if it is largely inhibited, as in many of the animal studies”...

Yes, on the ANIMAL SIDE…

Dr. Thorpe, 10-24-05:
“[in mice] And it gets better, because what happens is that Bavi+Gemcitabine stopped liver metastases in these mice. And this is what happens in pancreatic carcinoma patients – the tumors spread from the pancreas to the liver, and that’s what is so difficult to treat – that’s why patients die, because that disease is blood resistant and is essentially incurable. What you’re seeing here is Bavi+Gemcitabine to be completely preventing liver metastases in a very precise rodent model of human cancer.”
”… And these are lungs of mice which carry breast cancer within their mammary tissue, and the breast cancer metastasizes to the lungs… But the best is Tarvacin + Docetaxel, where lung colony formation is prevented completely.”

Dr. Thorpe, 10-24-06:
“And here we looked at Bavi+Gemcitabine and its ability to suppress the growth of pancreatic tumors in mice – you can see the combo treatment has suppressed tumor growth by 90%. Furthermore, it prevents metastases spreading from the pancreatic tumor to the liver, a common site for metastases in man, and there’s complete prevention of liver metastases in animals treated with this combination of drugs.”

And now, we move to the HUMAN side. How close can we get to “complete prevention of metastases” in the current Ph.2 Bavi+Chemo trials?? In the prev. small Ph.1B India trial (“advanced cancer patients with metastatic disease who had failed prior therapy”), we got close with 2 patients:

10-10-07: B4+AFTER MRI'S OF 2 INDIA/1B MET.BREAST CANCER PATIENTS (BAVI+CP):
SK, on Slide20…
"These are 2 of those patients in the carboplatin/paclitaxel arm, both with metastatic breast cancer. You can see in the left-hand panel here, highlighted in red is the tumor masses before treatment, and then 8 weeks post-treatment you can see that essentially these target lesions have completely resolved. In fact we believe these probably would have been considered complete responses except for the fact that there were probably metastatic lesions which did not completely resolve. But again - very encouraging results in early clinical studies."

And now we await the Bavi+Chemo Ph.2’s, on those 140+ patients with their healthier immune systems. As always, fingers X’d.
