Ok thrifty...I saw it coming...I knew you was going to have me over at Wikipedia if i wasnt careful..and sure enough...thats where i just came from...LOL...

Now 1st of all I see that the 7th chapter of the Song of Solomon...is one of them ...what you might call a R rated bible chapter and I see in the 13th verse where it talks of Mandrake...and the 30th chapter of Genesis also talks about the mandrake and the chapter almost sounds like a orgy type thing with folks laying with folks and having babies...I guess I should have looked in my study bible before i came to that conclusion...but thats how i just 1st read it..LOL...
So at Wikipedia its telling me....
Mandrake is the common name for members of the plant genus Mandragora belonging to the nightshades family (Solanaceae). Because mandrake contains deliriant hallucinogenic tropane alkaloids such as hyoscyamine and the roots sometimes contain bifurcations causing them to resemble human figures, their roots have long been used in magic rituals...

So this i guess was one of the drugs used in Bible days that could help get someone in the mood...love medicine as you say...and if you got tired of them you could just give them lots and it became an acrid narcotic poison to kill them?

So that could be in the same family of drug and use and high as the mushrooms and peyote buttons that i use to be partial to..
