Cuba is probably as close to the book as they come, but the embargo keeps them in a box
Given Cuba's survival under a crushing embargo, the suggestion is they'd be successful without it.
Every newly liberated country has chose the path of more economic freedom and has prospered because of it
Haiti has suffered immensely under WTO and IMF demanded reforms.
Almost all of South and Central America meanwhile is swinging left. With the inability of the US to continue its campaign of terrorism and murder most people will choose a more social form of economics. You're probably correct that there won't be any pure Marxism, but Karl Marx predates the industrial revolution... and was a contemporary of ...wait for it .... Charles Dickens. So you might say he was proposing solutions to real problems, many of which have been since addressed and in no small measure they've been addressed because of the writings of Marx.
You can't suggest the Stalinists were Marxists. They may have cliamed to be, but there were no changes in Russian politics under the Politburo from Russian politics under the Czar. All that ever changed was who was on top. What is Russia today? Thugocracy... same as it ever was... same as it ever was.
I'm going to have to say you probably just don't like Marx 'cause you hate Jews.
The market place is always more efficient than centralized govt control
Look at how the market deals with the elderly. Look at our distribution of health care.
Please.
Throw in intellectual freedom as well and the odds are greatly in favor of success.
Hmmm... are we still on our China example?
Look at the parts of the Arab world where women are treated as property
Odd that we should just destroy the only Middle East Society where that wasn't true.
and suppression is the norm.
Sure because Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are open and egalitarian societies. The House of Saud doesn't really lead the world in beheadings. The Emirates don't really exist on slave labor and in all those places the president is a guy they vote for.
I know you'll hate this, but it's really possible that Iran is the most democratic and open society in the region. The younger generation flouts the ancient "morality" and throw mixers with alcohol and dancing behind closed doors. (They're way more modern than say... John Ashcroft or Mlsoft) Millions of Iranians watch western TV on their "illegal" satellite dishes. Remember, they were the first Democracy. We overthrew that one in 1953 so we could install Pahlavi, a brute rivaled only by Saddam Hussein, whom we also installed. Left alone I'd bet Iran would be a functioning democracy again.
They'd be much better off exploring that rather than blaming everything on Israel
They blame the Palestinian problem on Israel. Insane huh? Yeah yeah... I know.
