You don't want hear the much more harrowing experiences culminating in the "Screaming Eagles" delivering me from the jaws of malfaisance. Four years later, that trip to Jerusalem was a picnic, I was not even hungry. On the way, the bus stopped in an orange grove, and they explained to us that we can go into the grove and eat from its fruit, but not take any fruit with us, an old biblical dictum, too, but not for me. I filled my bag with those oranges, and since I never saw an orange before and did not know you peel them, before you eat them, I ate them with the peel. By the time we got to that Burma road, I was more concerned with a burning rash all around my lips than with the possibility that some sniper will take a shot at me (g/ng).
