Ergo you might check 242 for the mention of palestinians: I dont think its there. Therefore the resolution has a particular ambiguity: in order to give back something, there has to be somebody to take it. In the case of Jordan, they already made peace and signed the land over to Israel, as sugested by 242. Subsequently this land became occupied. I never understood how this happened, but it shows the power of propaganda.
It appears that if arabs occupied it, it was just land. but if jewish israelis lived on it, it was occupied.
