Jerusalem has been the Capital of Israel for the last 57 years, has Jerusalem ever been the Capital of any sovereign Arab state? No, the last time that area was under Local (Ottoman) control, Damascus was the administrative center. There is a claim that Jerusalem is the "Third" most holy Muslim site, it is also the Second holiest Catholic site (with seven centuries precedence over Islam's claims) and I believe most other christians consider Jerusalem the holiest site. Who cares if Jews have been considering Jerusalem as the only holy site for the last three thousand years. Apart of that, go and tell An Iraqi Shiite that Jerusalem is holier than Karbala (the burial place of Ali, I believe), he'll spit in your ace. Tell and Iranian Shiite that Jerusalem is holier than UM, he slap your face....

What is the fascination about Jerusalem? Why is Jerusalem supposed to be such a roadblock? Jerusalem is an excuse not to negotiate, just as the "right of return" is an excuse. The world cannot accept such right as international law , because it will destabilize Europe (Germans right of return to Gdansk, Breslau, Danzig and of course, Alsace Lorraine) and countless other areas of the world where human strife has cause refugee problems and dislocations. (as I mentioned before, 2 MM Sikhs were forced out of the punjab in 1949, two years after the Palestinian "Nakba", China is gobbling up Tibet but no one is batting an eyelash...
