Good morning Dewologist......I ran into an old friend(not literally) on Friday by Siesta Beach here, and he told me
he had CML, and that Gleevec was working great for him,
made him lethargic etc, but that if he wasn't a Veteran,
Gleevec would cost him $80 per daily pill!
I remember when DNA raised the cost of Avastin from
$50 thousand per year to $100,000 because "THEY COULD",
which I thought was about the most honest and arrogant
answer that Art Levinson & Susan Desmond-Hellman could
pronounce. The thing I thought ironic is why state the
yearly Avastin rate when nobody gets to live a year while
on Avastin? It just extends the torturous aspects of
cancer and cancer meds. Anyway, there are so many new
drug platforms in clinical and preclinical trials that
attack cancer, vascular targeting agents, tumor necrosis
therapies, that this will be a mute point hopefully within
the next decade+....have a great day Dew, and remember that
the head mod wears a bullseye for some reason and this
is still the best IHUB board for those interested in
biotech and pharma...peace.
