Hi X,

The dinner went really really well. The food was good, nothing burned, nothing was broken. My friends were wistful on leaving that there wasn't any spectacular event.

We got into a discussion of the Vagina Monolgs. All four of the women here last night are going to see it on Thursday, and from the tenor of the conversation, there will be muttering and eye rolling in the theater.

Someone asked my painter friend what he thought of the landscape that hangs over our livingroom fireplace. Unfortunately, he'd had just enough Chianti to be honest. He got up, stood before it, and went on forever how the artist was good but this particular painting was facile. The guy who asked the question was horrified , but it didn't bother me.
