Historically it's been housing that's lead us out of the recent recessions.

Here's another way to think about it; we climbed out of the 2001 recession by the creation of a housing bubble so in essence we're right back where we started 2001 from. 2002 thru 2007 could end up as being nothing more than a mirage hidden inside a long term recession.

Time will tell.
