the difference between tyzeka and recothrom is that the former is widely perceived to be an inferior agent in the marketplace, and US guidelines establishing very narrow indications for its use was the nail in the coffin
if you are going to use a hep B drug analogy perhaps baraclude is a better example. both baraclude and recothrom offer advantages to the current SOC at the time. both are priced at a premium. baraclude had pathetic us sales at launch (7M in its first 6 months!), and baraclude didn't even have to go through a hospital formulary process that inherently creates a lag until sales ramp
only time will tell if recothrom is the next tyzeka or the next baraclude, but the profile of the product relative to the competition makes me a believer that it will be closer to the latter
