tecate, if you don't understand why such problems might affect Intel stock, there is nothing more I (or anyone else) can say to help you.

Sure... product delays can affect profitability and therefore stock price...

... so can a lot of other things, though.

The examples you cited even if true may have minimal impact for several reasons.

Without 64-bit Windows, demand for x86-64 is very LOW... period. AMD isn't making that many Opterons at this point regardless of what several people seem to want to believe. A one quarter delay should therefore have little if any material impact on Intel's results.

An I2 delay also may or may not have any material effect on results. Right now nothing in its segment touches the I2 performance-wise. The impact will have to be gauged by other products available at the time.

High power consumption on a top-of-the-line desktop processor is something that EVERYONE is going to have to learn to manage. Intel is first to 90nm... they are being roasted (no pun intended) for "sins" that may not be uniquely theirs. I'm anxious to see the power consumption for AMD on 90nm... Power consumption for the desktop form factor is a universal problem. Intel's leading the pack on process technology, I therefore expect them to lead the pack on mitigation...
