Financing should have been completed by now (IMO) if the capacity problem of the Coos loop were not an issue. Demolition of the old pulp mill was finished late last summer. The site is now ready for Biomass development (if money were available) and it has been ready since late last summer. Now the old boiler and final smoke stack just sit idle with absolutely nothing happening. This is a worst case scenario for Berlin residents. The "do nothing" option is probably worse than either the Biomass plant or "other development" options on the site (again, IMO). This is very unfortunate for the City of Berlin. Perhaps patience is required but there are 120 acres of prime development property in our downtown that has absolutely nothing happening. So sad.
