14:12 ET Soy Milk Companies on the Radar Screen : The Washington Times reports that a research team from Colorado State University and two other universities found that soy products may stave off baldness, prostate cancer, and even improve troubled skin. The article points to a molecule called equol, which is created in the intestine when soy is digested. A member of the research team said: "These findings are of immense critical importance because blocking the action of the potent androgen D.H.T. has been one of the holy grails of the pharmaceutical industry as a strategy for treating prostate cancer and related disease." Researchers are excited because equol has no side effects, unlike powerful drugs that prevent D.H.T. from being made in the body.
