Some thoughts on the spools:
There are 2 announced projects that would require
the use of cables.
This one:
"The second innovation involves the development and manufacture of a unique deployment system to install very fragile, small-diameter fiber optic cables in deepwater environments. This deployment system will greatly reduce the amount of stress on the fiber optic cable during installation. The particular project involves the installation of approximately eight miles of fiber optic cable in 6000 feet of water. The specialized equipment can be placed on an installation contractor's vessel with minimal effort and provide a safe, quick method of efficient deployment."
And this one:
"The SAM will also serve as an anode skid, designed to carry additional anodes. It will be grounded to the structure in order to provide additional cathodic protection to the HDM."
If those spools have fiber optic fiber, it would seem to me the small radius of the spools would stress the glass fibers excessively. Also I seriously doubt they would do 13 splices to make an 8 mile cable. So if the spools did contain fiber optic, I would expect at least 13 underwater connections to 13 individual trees or wells back to the rig or to a subsea controller or junction.
The other choice would cabling to connect the SAM to the structure "It will be grounded to the structure" And cabling to connect the "additional anodes"
"Several of these units will be shipped" So expect 2 or 3 SAMS,
each with "additional anodes", perhaps 3 or more anodes per SAM. That would be about 12 cables needed total. 2 or 3 for the SAMs plus perhaps 9 or more for the additional anodes, for a minimum of 12 cables.
We could flip a coin, but I am leaning towards ground cables.
-all imo and guesswork on my part-
p.s. You are welcome Investor100, I too am looking forward to more developments ahead. cheers
