This is exactly the types of contracts and systems EW builds and excels at - and i'd be very suprised if they weren't bidding on it or even be a frontrunner in the bid process.

They already have these type systems in service on double ended ferries in New York with USCG approval.

The WA state ferries contract is broken up into 2 stages - current stage is a "design" contract - a public award announcement of what vendor will build what part of the vessel would not be made until after the design is approved by WA State and a "build" contract issued to the shipyard - probably Sept. before the public knows...but the companies involved would probably know well before that.

I am sure EW bids many (and has bid many since joining DPDW) of these types of systems and only the folks inside know where they stand - sometimes the vessel is under construction before a control vendor is picked, other times it is picked during design - due to all the time lags and stages involved these contract awards can semmingly "come out of the blue" and trying to guess the timing is near impossible - that said i am confident EW will win their fair share!

All the above is my personal opinion and I encourage all to do the ownn DD to their own satisfaction.
