An excellent question, and one that only God can answer with certainty. I can only give you my best guess based on Scripture.
Scripture tells us that the only way for a person to be saved (have all their sins forgiven) is for them to accept God's gracious provision for the forgiveness of sin, by accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The only exception is for those who die before reaching the age of accountability, which has to do with mental maturity, not a physical age. There is no amount of good works that can lead to salvation, and each and every one of us are sinners, deserving of death for our unbelief and rebellion against God.
Paul tells us that every person has an internal imprint of God's basic will in their hearts and the witness of the creation of God to lead them to a search for God. I personally believe that if such a man as you describe were to respond positively to that general revelation and earnestly seeks God, then God will give him more revelation. If he continues on that path, God will see to it that a messenger is sent to him to give him the Gospel of Jesus (like Phillip being sent to the Ethiopian prince in the book of Acts). In reality, few, if any, respond positively.
Either way, if he dies without a saving faith in Jesus, he will spend eternity in Hell. Remember though, that the above is based on my own reading of Scripture and only God can answer the question. Whatever the true answer, we can trust God, and rely on His attributes of Love, Mercy, Grace, and Justice, that His answer is the perfect answer.
