my understanding is that these grants and options are bonuses, and while other employees received mostly cash bonuses, a few others got stock as bonuses, too. i'm sure the details will be in the upcoming filings.
this is just a hunch, but imo the 10-K numbers must be fairly strong or this wouldn't be happening.
