While dewophile is more than capable of explaining his words himself, I'll simply point out that his words were 'zero risk trial'... not 'zero risk drug', as you're stating. As to the 'no spa' charge, IMO another red herring. To start with, SPA's are relatively new on the FDA scene... nearly all the drugs currently on the market didn't have a SPA.

If one wants to worry there's plenty of things to worry about. .. thats a given. However, and always within the context of normal biotech risk, an anemia path to approval, from everything I've read, is a solid as they come. The fact that most accidents occur in the home doesn't mean that houses are dangerous, but rather that thats where people spend most of their time... which proves that even within a safe environment s**t can happen. Of course no guarantee with any trial... and there is none here. However, if this trial really has a 36% probability of success, then the average trial must be under 5%
