Baidu Predicts 1st-Qtr Revenue Lower Than Wall Street Analysts' Expectations
NEW YORK (AP) -- Chinese search-engine operator Baidu.com Inc. predicted Wednesday that its first-quarter 2008 revenue will come in below analysts' estimates.
For the quarter, the Beijing-based company anticipates revenue of 533 million yuan ($73.1 million) to 548 million yuan ($75.1 million). In the first quarter of 2007, the company's sales totaled 275.6 million yuan.
Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect $77.1 million in revenue.
Baidu's American Depositary Shares rose $12.91, or 4.9 percent, to $274 in after-hours trading. Earlier, the shares finished regular trading up $15.66, or 6.4 percent, at $261.90.
