To break it down further, there were 228 private colleges, universities and adult schools, 1187 other institutions for higher education, 2,953 private high schools, 1,633 private middle vocational schools, 4,219 private junior high schools, 24 private vocational junior high schools, 6,047 private elementary schools, and 62,200 private preschools.
