This is an EHFL or electrical hydraulic flying lead.

Oh sheesh, in Layman’s terms……. You have a master control station topside with a huge umbilical stretching to the field down on the sea bed. At the end of it you have what’s called a UTA or UTH <umbilical terminating head or assy>.

Then from there you will have one of the EHFLs stretching from the UTA to what ever equipment you are wanting to control.

The electric wires control the onboard computers, or <SCM or Subsea Control Module> which then directs the Hydraulic controls. DPDW has built these Moray head EHFLs specific for this project.

Hope this makes a lil since to ya.

If you look at the one pic, of the Moray on the chute, it will be deployed right off teh stern of the vessel and the carrousel will unwind as it goes down. Once the EHFL is all the way un-spooled from the carrousel it will be transferred to a down line and lowered Subsea. Once it’s Subsea the ROVs <remote operated vehicle> will install it to the equipment down there.

That’s as layman as I can get....
