DDI HDU testimonial - Lost Ark Field RAC Jumper Recovery & Redeploy

Approximately six years ago Oil States Industries, Inc. installed two Remote Articulated Connectors (RAC's) for a customer in the Lost Ark field.
In 2007 the customer decided to bring a new subsea well online in the Lost Ark field and in doing so reuse the Oil States RAC's. To accomplish this Oil States Industries, Inc. partnered with Deep Down to use their specialized, modular, compact, horizontal drive unit (HDU), mini carousel and 5 ton tensioner to recover a 4 inch Wellstream flexible jumper that had the two Oil States RAC's on both ends.
After the well was shut in the jumper the Oil States RAC's were recovered with Deep Down's HDU and the RAC's were shipped back to the Oil States Houston facilities where the connectors were refurbished and reconfigured. The connectors were then shipped back to the Lost Ark field and redeployed and reinstalled on another well.
The redeployed Oil States RAC's were refurbished and reconfigured in two weeks as opposed to a new jumper that would have cost the customer approximately 50% more in equipment and a 16 week delivery period.
