I paid a lot less for my Athlon 64-bit chip than Intels high end CPU when I made the purchase. It's performance is on par with Intels best. It runs 32 bit software faster than any equivelent speed/rating chip.
That's nice. But 64-bitness has nothing to do with either
the A64's price or its attractive performance running 32
bit software.
Dell wanted aprox. $3000.00 for their high end gaming machine with a pee4ee. My machine performs better at a fraction of the price.
How much did it cost and how much memory is in it? What
is the maximum amount of memory that can be installed
in it today and how much more would your system cost to
do so?
Chipguy.
I went on dells site and looked at the DemensionXP.
It lists for $2,9xx.xx with the p4-3.2 and 512 MB. After unchecking everything, no monitor etc.,and everything else i could uncheck it quoted this price. After adding 512 MB mem, and the P4-EE.
Print Summary
Preliminary Ship Date5
5/19/2004
Details
Dimension XPS
$2,984
Before $150 mail-in rebate.
In fairness I used an Antec case I had left over, actually I ordered 10 they sent 11 a few years ago. this is the 3-4th mobo in this unit. So I will list it.
Case............................$110.00
Mobo, CPU, Memmory combo........$850.00 at show
80 Gig HD.......................$130.00 at Computer show.
ATI 9800 Pro....................$229.00
Antec TP 430 watt PSU...........$ 60.00 at show
Combo CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R,DVD-RW $119.00
The mobo bundle consists of an MSI Neo Fsr-2
1 Gig Corsair TwinX (2x512) LLP memmory
Athlon64-3400+
Total---> $1,498.00
The same Mobo bundle is availible at Monarch, New Egg, maybe even a little cheaper now?
The mobo has three mem slots so it will take three I gig dimms.
The future, dont care, that could be tomorrow. I never kept a machine longer than a few years. If someone offers me enough, bye bye. I dont get emotionaly attached to machines, might be cheaper than those darn woman tho.
Regards
