From a regulatory approval standpoint, I am hopeful that NYX will hurry up and buy the Nymex. Should NYX continue to grow through taking minority positions in foreign exchanges and flat-out buying smaller exchanges, they may become too big to gain approval for the purchase of Nymex. Can you imagine, closing the Amex and Nymex buildings and moving everything to one centralized location? It's already happened to some extent with some of the Nymex operations consolidating into the NYX building, but the Nymex exchange floor itself still exists. So many synergies, so little time! Heck, I'd take an ICE acquisition in lieu of Nymex if I had to.
