Petz,

You get to use full 4 Gigs, but the OS allocates 2 GB for itself.

There is a trick to change this ratio to 1 GB OS, 3 GB App that Microsoft supports for running SQL Server on the Server OS.

Under 64 bit OS, it is all transparent, and apps can allocate 4 GB of memory.
