ONEBGG - interesting huh ... how many alcoholics do we treat by putting them on whiskey to get them off beer? That, IMO is just about what we do with the methadone clinics.

This synthetic drug is stronger aand more addictive than heroin. IF the clinics really did taper people down, it might help, but for the pay clinics, that would be like McDonalds putting people on a program to wean them off Big Macs. Why would they want to get rid of their best customers? I have actually met people who were still on methadone after over two years ..... they go every morning to get their methadone, then hang out the rest of the time waiting on the next dose. They don't work, so WHERE do they get the money to buy their methadone?

Same place they got money for their heroin - stealing, robbing, prostituting, whatever. Those sorts of clinics should be closed down immmediately. They could detox any junkie through gradually tapering the dose down over 6 - 8 weeks - three months max. But they keep them hanging on because the subject "isn't ready" or "XXYYZZ" - Nothing but legalized distribution of drugs, and the citizens are really paying for the junkie's high.

I have very ill feelings toward methadone clinics. (Can you Tell?). Another dubious idea, now gone totally wrong, but still pushed as a viable treatment option. What a waste!
