T-Mobile and electronics manufacturer Sharp Corporation, have agreed a long-term partnership, which will see the two companies working closely together on the development of mobile phones. As part of the agreement, T-Mobile will offer its customers across Europe selected co-developed mobile telephone models from Sharp that will provide an enhanced user experience of T-Mobile’s new and existing t-zones services. The first of this new generation of co-developed phones is the TM100, Sharp’s multi-feature camera mobile phone, which T-Mobile and its sales partners will offer exclusively from April 2004.
"The cooperation with Sharp enables us to offer our customers an even broader range of technologically innovative and visually diverse mobile phone models", explained David Hytha, Executive Vice President, International Terminal Management at T-Mobile. "It allows us to meet customers’ demands for technology, exciting designs and easy to use products even more effectively."
"We are proud to supply our new mobile phone products, which fully utilize Sharp’s one-of-a-kind technology, and enable customers to subscribe to an attractive and wide range of T-Mobile’s t-zones multimedia services", commented Mr. Hirohide Nakagawa, Group General Manager, Information and Communication Systems Group, Sharp Corporation, Japan.
The Sharp TM100 boasts a unique design and features a sleek silver outer casing with the back of the phone resembling and functioning as a digital compact camera. The handset’s keypad is hidden under the large screen (240 x 320 pixel, 262K colors, for JPEG wallpaper display only) and can be pulled out when needed. The LCD color display shows photos and t-zones content in crystal-clear optic quality. The handset also features 40-polyphonic ringtones.
The Sharp TM100 proves its value in many different usage scenarios thanks to extensive modern mobile communications technology. A simple touch of the keypad promptly takes users to the mobile multimedia portal, t-zones, where they can easily access information and entertainment content. With the built-in VGA CCD camera, they can take photographs and record video sequences. The built-in digital zoom function allows pictures to be framed perfectly. A variety of integrated frames and graphics are also available for individual editing of pictures.
Video clips sent as multi-media messages or downloaded from t-zones can be played back quite conveniently using the integrated video player. The Sharp TM100 has the necessary software for the mobile sending and receiving of emails, i.e. an email client. It is also a tri-band device, and therefore can be used in many regions of the world. <<
