Re: Wolfdale is vaporware at this point in time. When (and if) it arrives then that would change.

In other words, you can't buy Wolfdale today, but when you can buy one, then this will change. People can't accuse you of not being profound, now can they, Pete?

The point that seems completely over your head is that AMD is LOSING to Intel's 65nm parts TODAY, so the situation right now is "bad". When Wolfdale does in fact ramp later this month, the situation goes from "bad" to "WORSE".

So the joy you seem to be taking that Wolfdale is unavailable today is irrelevant. Whatever situation AMD is in today, it's going to get WORSE by the time Wolfdale ramps, and AMD will not have new cores before then.

Re: AMD's 90nm Opterons beat Intel's 65nm Conroes at 4P and at 8P, TODAY.

Nice bait and switch, Pete. You accuse Intel of being late with Wolfdale (a desktop part), and then you compare SERVER performance. That's so intellectually dishonest, Pete, given that Intel 45nm server Harpertown parts are available IN VOLUME, TODAY. But then, intellectual dishonesty is par for the course for you, isn't it?

Re: The relevant part is that Intel just paper launched 16 CPUs and you can't bring yourself to admit that.

LOL, Wrong Again! I called it a paper launch yesterday:

Re: When, and if, Wolfdale becomes available, we can then compare them to AMD's offerings at that time and not those of a year ago.

Why don't you look at a comparison of AMD's CURRENT offerings (which would exclude Barcelona, and also exclude Phenom without the TLB fix), and compare them against Intel's CURRENT offerings (which would include Harpertown in servers, and Kentsfield on the desktop). You will see that AMD LOSES by LEAPS and BOUNDS. AMD is like the coyote being left in the dust as Intel, the road runner, runs off in the distance. smile
