Re: Penryn TDP @ 0.3 Watt for Deep Power Down

Good catch, Jokerman. I found it interesting that a number of thermal specs have improved with Penryn vs Merom.

ftp://download.intel.com/design/mobile/datashts/31891401.pdf

TDP @ 1.2GHz Low Freq Mode (LFM) - 25W -> 22W
TDP @ Stop Grant and LFM Voltage - 6.9W -> 5.0W
TDP @ Sleep State and LFM Voltage - 6.7W -> 4.8W
TDP @ Deep Sleep and LFM Voltage - 4.3W -> 2.2W
TDP @ Deeper Sleep and LFM Voltage - 2.0W -> 1.7W

Penryn seems to be lower power in a number of important sleep states. It should lead to some spectacular idle and average power numbers, especially with the Deep Power Down mode @ 0.3W TDP.

Note, too, that junction temperature was increased, which allows systems builders to design less expensive cooling solutions:

Tj - 100C degrees -> 105C degrees

IMO, This should not be overlooked as another important step towards creating smaller form factor devices.
