~ HAPPY NEW YEAR ~ ....
This is from my churches bulletin this last Sunday. I thought it was nice.
MEDITATE
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
2 Corinthians 5:17
I love the word "new". It sounds so much better than "old" or "used", doesn't it? The media uses this word often, usually to get us to buy some "new and improved" formula or the latest and greatest thing.
The Bible tells us that when we accepted Jesus Christ, we became a new person. In this passage, the Greek word for "new" means a "fresh existence." God does not renovate or repair the old man within us. Instead, He creates in us a brand new person with a new family, a new set of values, new dreams, new motivations, new purpose, and best of all, a brand new power to follow Him in this new and living way.
As we head into this next year, it is my prayer that we would not look backward, but forward, with full expectation that God's grace and new mercies will lead us.
Many Blessings in the New Year,
Pastor Steve and Gail
