This is her way to ridicule Marxist (actually, even communist) doctrine, not her opinion of "how things should be" , after all that motor factory, in her book, is falling apart...

In he late 19th century Europe developed two school of thoughts about the "right order" of things, one school, the socialist school, suggested that everyone should be compensated (equally) according to his "output", the more "enlightened" (the communist camp)claimed that in the "right social order", everyone should contribute to society according to his best abilities and receive from society according to his needs. Karl Marx has been "maligned" for these philosophies, but frankly, he was the only one that truly understood capitalism. His huge tome "Das Kapital" is a verbose description of the basic principles of capitalism ("it is the value added, stupid", or the way I like to put it "you'll never get rich from your own work" (g)). All the rest are commentaries, the need of capitalism to accumulate sufficient capital so that value added can be "harvested", the moral stance as to whether "added value" should be harvested from children 14 hours a day 7 days a week, or from miners without regard to their lives, or from steel workers without felling them into the molten steel, are just that, commentaries on the middle of the 19th century state of the extremely exploitative capital. In view of what he saw, it is not surprising that he authored the Manifesto with "Workers of the world, unite, you have nothing to lose, but your chains".
