I really don't think a lawsuit is what brought an end to iCOMP...

Actually, I think it did. iComp was a marketing tool, used to exaggerate the benefit from upgrading. Once that was no longer possible (during and after the law suit), iComp no longer made sense.

Then, Intel switched gears, and used a front called Bapco to do the dirty work. Bapco provided a shield from direct litigation.
