Thnx for this very important post Dew. With all the end of year scepticism it is nice to see some pathophysiologic foundation slipped under AT3's potential role in treating DIC. My surmise is many of these processes which induce apoptosis, eg DIC, stroke and heart attack involve messenger cytochymes (can we call them grim reapers??) which fall into the thrombin group. If this turns out to be the case AT3 could become very important. It is interesting that the process might be a two step one involving monocytes as an intermediator. This might indicate there is more than one way to stop the process, ie. apoptosis
