yourbankruptcy, Intel will have an easy time burying the 'megahurtz myth' because AMD has been doing the heavy lifting for them. We already see that with sales of Pentium-M (which is likely to be the foundation for Intel's P4 replacement).

Given that Intel needs to resolve the performance of 3 very different product lines - an aging P4, growing P-M and niche Itanium - maybe they will support an industry performance rating system. Son of TPI, co-developed between Intel and AMD, and administered by SPEC. Different from current SPEC benchmarks as this measure would be application-based and probably have sub-catagories (graphics, simulation, video, etc.).
