Sheriff, that was your choice, not mine. I put forth every effort to have a civil, an honest, and a data driven argument. You chose to change it from a general disagreement into a personal attack. Some people seem to think that by getting personal, they can throw their weight around, sound informed at the other person's expense, and then leave the scene looking like the winner of the argument by default, having eliminated the other person by discrediting them. Personally, I find that intellectually dishonest. This might be an overused term, if you've visited these forums, but it's nevertheless applicable to a large number of anonymous blog posters who have nothing to lose by ignoring the common decency of everyday life in order to enter debates and be whatever jerk they want in order to get the point across.
I may be a little unfair here for attributing all of this to you, but my hope is that you make a stronger attempt in the future to give me at least the same level of respect that I attempt to give you. I welcome disagreements, but it's far better to say, "I think you're wrong," than to say, "I think you're an Intel equivalent of an AMDroid." There are a lot of things in this industry that are debatable, and I expect us to be at odds with a number of them. That part is ok, and I would encourage you to tell me I'm wrong in the future. However, I must insist that you leave it at that. If you cannot use data to convince someone, and your statements or opinions aren't enough, then I would expect anyone to disagree and move on, without resorting to personal attacks. And this is not just my policy, but also iHub's. I actually choose a very non-invasive form of moderation, but I've seen multiple times that the iHub administrators will get involved if there are complaints. So consider that in the future.
I really have no intention of holding a grudge, or of judging you in any way. If you have any negative impressions based on this message, then it's all your own doing. I hope to have more productive discussions in the future, and I wouldn't have bothered to write all this, if I didn't hope it would offer a chance of setting things right.
