I was referring to the possibility of selective data disclosure to investors rather than selective disclosure to prospective partners, which would almost certainly backfire.

Selective data disclosure—when made to all investors at the same time—rarely becomes an actionable offense. Modest but still pertinent non-disclosures are made all the time without legal liability because the SEC’s definition of materiality is vague.
