fwiw, sl, I was listening to a radio show with Robyn Merideth a Forbes reporter covering China and India. She has a new book called, "The Elephant and the Dragon". A good read for Americans to understand the new developing economies. Now that there are almost suddenly two billion more people in the global work force, she said we need to reinvent ourselves so our jobs are worth our pay in comparison to someone's equivalent job overseas. (Glad we have stocks here, lol.)

She says there is a good side, that the Chinese do need the complicated American exports like Boeing jets and probably computer technology etc. So we could do well exporting to all these new rich capitalists. She said that both countries have lifted hundred millions of people out of poverty by embracing Capitalism, something we couldn't do with our hunger programs. The Chinese government is communist in name only as they become fully capitalistic.

She couldn't answer how poorer Americans can adjust to this new competition. Stay tuned. Robyn also said to look at the background in pictures of China and notice how polluted is the country. I guess you can't see buildings two blocks away. Just thought I'd pass this along. Have a good nite, getting cold out.
