Did progressive taxes really build America? Actually, free enterprise built America. The federal government only constituted a percent or two of GDP up until the beginning of the 20th century, it was a Ron Paul kind of government, the federal government only had the powers expressly granted it by the constitution, all other powers vested in the states. That was gradually changed, and the federal government slowly began to expand it's reach and scope, income and social
security (a regressive tax} taxes were very modest when originated. I agree with Ron Paul on this, but I don't think it realistic to believe we are going to return to the original intent of the constitution regarding the separation of powers between the federal and state governments.
