a radio shack 286. It was powerful in it's time and
served me well for more than a few 24 hours. Seems this
managements 'wait /see / hold off' attitude may be allowing for
opportunities to quietly slip by.

Depreciation helps offset the costs and when upgrades are available, easier to implement. Perhaps, subcontractors, sharing a percent of the profit (performance based) would allow for progress.
