E-Trade shares surge on deal talk
E-Trade Financial shares surged more than 20% Friday after a report the online broker is considering selling itself.
The company has hired investment banks to help it consider selling itself, the cable business-channel CNBC reported, citing unidentified people it said were familiar with the situation. An E-Trade (ETFC) spokeswoman declined to comment.
