Not usre...Using 18% market share of around 220MU, gives around 40mu/year. I would be interested in any data you have indictaed closer to 80MU/year or 20Mu/quarter.
In terms of ATI, yes they spend R&D as do many other businesses inside INTC. It does sound like we agree that scale is critical. I think the trend is actually more critical, with the rapidly escalating process R&D costs which are driving the AMD/IBM alliance off the curve... that trend will continue unless they rapidly increase R&D spending to process development, which I suspect will not happen.
