IMHO

As you mention DIC is a pathway for diverse clinical situations. Many of them are fairly trivial, (the condition, not the DIC)and many occur in young and otherwise healthy individuals with acute, but solvable problems. The idea DIC is mainly a problem in elderly or "hopeless" cases is fortunately not correct.
